Image compression based on multi averaging

In this paper at first some image compression methods such as wavelet, KLT, Discrete Cosine Transform and combined wavelet and KLT were reviewed and then anew method based on multi averaging was proposed. The proposed method was applied on some images including a spaceborn remote sensing image and the results were presented. Few statistical parameters such as MSE, PSNR and CR for evaluation of the method on the compressed images were calculated. In addition, for image retrieving, the averaging compressed image and then minimum and maximum values were used.
