Today, aerial photography is one of the common methods for preparing products related to geospatial science, such as orthoimages and digital models of the earth's surface, but the existence of non-ideal lighting conditions in aerial photography is a common occurrence. Various techniques have been proposed to improve the quality of images in terms of lighting conditions in the last decade, but their impact on aerial images has not been evaluated. The aim of this research is to find a suitable method to improve the brightness in aerial images, which due to the inappropriate conditions of the brightness level in them did not have the desired quality, which causes a series of spectral information to be lost. For this purpose, out of 11 different methods for improving the brightness of images for two different datasets in terms of lighting conditions, we evaluated the effect of its effect on the improved images and thus the improvement of photogrammetric products. Finally, we chose the best method based on the brightness measurement criteria. The improvement of hidden complications in the shadow areas, as well as complications that cannot be easily recognized by the eye due to excessive light due to high reflection, is one of the results of improving the brightness of aerial images. Also, in the production of the point cloud and digital model of the land surface, the effects of the land surface, which were lost before the improvement of the images, were significantly improved. The result obtained from the best methods selected for two datasets based on the structural similarity index is equal to 0.95 and 0.99.
